Joseph A. Onesta, Clinical Hypnosis Practitioner

Joseph A Onesta, CHP

I’m someone who truly enjoys connecting with people. I’m friendly, compassionate, and easy to talk to—qualities that are at the heart of my work. My goal is simple: to help you take control of your life and create the changes you’re looking for. Every client I meet is, first and foremost, a fellow human navigating life’s challenges, and it’s my privilege to be part of that journey.

If you’d like to learn more about me, I’ve included links to some of the podcasts where I’ve been a guest. They’re a great way to get a sense of who I am and how I approach my work.

What you won’t get from me is hype or empty promises. My reputation is deeply connected to your success, and I take that seriously. I want you to succeed—whether that’s through working with me or helping you find the right person to guide you.

Either way, your success is what matters most.

Certifying Agencies

I am certified by two agencies. IMDHA, the International Medical & Dental Hypnotherapy Association, and ICBCH , the International Certification Board of Clinical Hypnotherapists, where I am also a certified hypnosis instructor. I am held to the highest professional and ethical standards.

In My Practice

I work with clients both in person at my Pittsburgh office and online with people from all over the world. Take a quick look at the dropdown menu under the Services tab to get a sense of the work I do and how I can help.

My Specialty—Metabolic Syndrome

After reversing my own Type 2 diabetes and losing 100 pounds, I made it my mission to help others achieve their own success with diabetes and weight loss. This journey led to the development of the Onesta Process—a unique blend of education, coaching, and hypnotherapy designed to help clients comfortably adapt to the lifestyle changes needed to overcome diabetes and obesity for good.

The success of the Onesta Process has inspired me to share it with other professionals, and I now train hypnotherapists to use this method with their own clients. I’ve also authored several books, many focused on Type 2 diabetes and obesity, drawing on my personal experience and the successes of the people I’ve worked with. You can visit see a list of my books here.

Speaker Services

I’m fortunate to be a confident and dynamic public speaker, and I frequently present at international hypnosis conferences. I’m available to speak or train at your company, organization, or conference on topics related to hypnosis and lifestyle changes, including managing anxiety, emotional eating, diabetes control and reversal, and weight loss.

If you have a specific topic in mind, I’m happy to customize a presentation tailored to your audience’s needs. Feel free to reach out using the contact information below or the contact form on this website—I’d love to discuss how I can bring value to your event.

Why Hypnosis?

Early in my life, I had profound and positive experiences with hypnosis. Through the guidance of a client-centered hypnotherapist, I was able to forgive deep hurts that had been holding me back. That process gave me a greater sense of who I am and clarity about my purpose in life. At the time, hypnosis felt miraculous, but I’ve since learned that the true miracle lies within each of us—including you.

It’s the extraordinary power of our own minds to shape the lives we want within the world we live. Many of us unknowingly create lives we don’t want—so why not use that same power to reverse it? Happiness isn’t a distant dream or a secret guarded by sages. It’s something available to all of us, and yes, that includes you.

Hypnosis has transformed my life—not just as a practitioner but first and foremost as a client. I trust that, like me, you’ll find them to be life-changing tools on your journey.

Have Questions?

Feel free to explore the site and check out the FAQ page. Under the “About” tab, you’ll find helpful details about pricing, privacy, and testimonials. If you still have questions, we can schedule a time to talk, in person, by phone or via Zoom.

Since I’m a one-person operation, I may not always be able to answer the phone—and I know phone tag can be frustrating. But if you’d like to give me a call, here’s my number:

A few years ago now I was a guest on Virtual Chapter of the International Medical and Dental Hypnotherapy Association speaking about my experience and work with Religious Trauma. You’ll get a bit more about that work in the podcast interview with Marian Spurgeon.
